Week 44: I have a confession to make

I was planning to share my finally finished bookshelf but then I decided I needed to make a confession after reading Laura’s post today, entitled Shoving things behind your couch is not dealing with your clutter. So. Here it is… Can you tell what it is? It’s an extra 50 square feet. Yep, a storage unit. […]

Week 29: Continuing the china cabinet clean out

China cabinet

For week 29 of the 52 Weeks of Organizing, I continued cleaning out the china cabinet that I started last week.

Week 28: Breaking down a big project

On my initial organizing plan one project I wrote down was way too big for one week. I’m starting to break it down and finish it in parts.

Week 24: Back to organizing (starting small)

Hooks behind the door

To tie in perfectly with this week’s theme (“Finish what you start”), this week I picked a very small project to get started with. Our towel situation has been been driving me crazy for a while. Here’s what I did to fix it!

Week 4: Let the nesting begin

It’s week 4 of Org Junkie’s 52 Weeks of Organizing. I’m going to try to condense as much as possible because I did a lot this week! I guess many people who joined this challenge have found it hard to stop once they’ve started and I’m right there with you.

We’ve been coasting along enjoying this exciting time of anticipating our first baby, but planned to get down to the business of actually making space for the baby in 2011.

There’s no hiding it anymore…

Yep, we’re having a baby! We’ve been working hard to make room in our apartment; which has been turned upside down. (Hence, the break in the green tour.) Also, part of the motivation to either finish outstanding projects or give them up. I’ve been doing lots of reading, eating well and sleeping. We’re trying to […]

A Renter’s Guide to Eco-friendly Living

This article from the LA Times suggests that renters feel that there isn’t a lot they can do to be sustainable. But I’ve always felt that apartment dwellers have a leg up. What do you think?

Green Tour: NYC Hallway

Like many NYC apartments, we are greeted by a long(ish) narrow hallway with lots of doors when entering our apartment. We went with dramatic lighting and paint that are also functional and turned this long hall from a “pass-through only” space, to a “stop and get inspired” space.
